Deaktivieren des Debugmode in VMWare Workstation Beta

Ich hab im Deutschen VMWare-Forum einen Beitrag gefunden wo beschrieben steht wie man die Beta von VMWare Workstation ohne die Debugoption starten kann. Da Uli, das etwas geheimnissvoll schrieb mach ichs hier nochmal direkt. Im Ordner “c:\programme\vmware\workstation” gibt es die dateien “vmware-vmx.exe mit der Größe 10MB” und die Datei “vmware-vmx-debug.exe größe 13MB” Die Datei “vmware-vmx-debug.exe” kann man in “vmware-vmx-debug.exe.orig” umbenennen. Dann nur noch die Original “vmware-vmx.exe” kopieren und in “vmware-vmx-debug.exe” umbenennen, so das wieder beide dateien da sind. Das ganze sollte dann so aussehen:

vmware-vmx.exe = 10Mb
vmware-vmx-debug.exe = 10MB
vmware-vmx-debug.exe.orig = 13MB

Die Workstation denkt dann zwar sie wäre noch im Debug mode ist sie aber nicht mehr

Hyper-V RC1 Freigegeben

Eigentlich dachte ich ja schon beim letzten Hyper-V release es wäre der RC1, doch es war wohl eher der RC0.
Das Release bringt nichts neues, außer das sich das Snapshotformat geändert hat.
Bezogen werden kann es wie immer im Microsoft Download Center oder über Windows Update.

Wenn Microsoft seinen Zyklus beibehält könnte die finale Version wie vorgesehen im August erscheinen.

ESX 3.5-Update1 läuft in WS6.5

Dank der äußerst hartneckigen Community hat VMware den inofiziellen “Support” für ESX wieder aktiviert. Seit Built 91182 kann man ESX 3.5-Update1 wieder installieren. Wahrscheinlich funktionieren auch andere Versionen, diese habe ich jedoch nicht gestet. Ich hab das ganze mal Teilweise in Bilder festgehalten so das wieder jeder in den genuss eines virtualisierten ESX kommen kann.
Wichtig ist nach dem ersten des VM Gerüstes in der Workstation muss unbedingt noch folgendes in der vmx ergänzt werden.

monitor.virtual_exec = hardware
monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = true

VMWare eröffnet Fusion 2.0 Betaprogramm

Gestern hat VMWare die Beta von Fusion 2.0 freigegeben.
Neue features sind:

• DirectX 9.0 Shader 2 3D experimenteler support
• Multi-Monitor support
• Virtual Printing
• Virtual Machine Library
• Integrated VMware Importer

Release: Sun VirtualBox 1.6

Heute wurde die neue Version von VirtualBox veröffentlicht, die Software auf dem Hause SUN ehemals Innotec, soll VMWare Workstation Konkurenz machen.
Sie bietet folgenden neuen Features:

• Vollen Support für Solaris und Mac OSX als Host
• Seamless window für Solaris und Linux Gastsysteme
• Support für virtuelle SATA Fesplatten
• PAE Memory support für Gastsysteme

VMWare ESX(i) 3.5 Patches

Kaum macht man mal 1 Tag Urlaub schon verpasst man den Patchrelease von VMware. Hier die Liste was es so neues gibt:

ESX350-200804401-BG (Critical): Prevent DHCP from resetting the IP address and netmask when trying to acquire or renew a lease. Change the default multipath policy for all HDS modular storage arrays such as AMS, SMS, WMS, 9500V to “fixed”.

ESX350-200804402-BG (Critical): Prevent the guest from stalling for a long time during snapshot operations. Prevent the ESX Server host from crashing during snapshot consolidation. Prevent the ESX Server host from rebooting while powering on a vSMP virtual machine on a Unisys ES7000/one with eight or fewer logical CPUs. Fix emulation of instructions that access I/O ports. Fix emulation of string instructions on 64-bit guest operating systems.

ESX350-200804403-BG (Critical): Prevent hostd from crashing due to incompatible entries in /etc/vmware/hostd/authorization.xml. Allow spaces in a password while creating and editing local ESX Server users through the VI Client. Set the executable bit for .vmx configuration files. Fix a vmware-vpxa crash caused by invalid UTF-8.

ESX350-200804404-BG (General): Allow Windows virtual machines to boot when DataDigest is enabled in software iSCSI.

ESX350-200804405-BG (General): Include a megaraid2 driver fix for UNISYS platforms.

ESX350-200804406-BG (General): Add support for the Intel PRO/1000 PF Quad Port Server Adapter.

ESX350-200804407-BG (Critical): Add support for the Broadcom HT-1100 SATA/IDE controller. Prevent path thrashing during an Invista all paths down condition.

ESXe350-200804401-I-BG (Critical): Fix typographic errors in the message strings of storage controller battery status, which is displayed in the VI Client. Include fixes for issues addressed by the following 3.5 patch bundles: ESX350-200804401-BG, ESX350-200804405-BG, ESX350-200804405-BG, ESX350-200804403-BG, and ESX350-200804407-BG.
