Kaum macht man mal 1 Tag Urlaub schon verpasst man den Patchrelease von VMware. Hier die Liste was es so neues gibt:

ESX350-200804401-BG (Critical): Prevent DHCP from resetting the IP address and netmask when trying to acquire or renew a lease. Change the default multipath policy for all HDS modular storage arrays such as AMS, SMS, WMS, 9500V to “fixed”.

ESX350-200804402-BG (Critical): Prevent the guest from stalling for a long time during snapshot operations. Prevent the ESX Server host from crashing during snapshot consolidation. Prevent the ESX Server host from rebooting while powering on a vSMP virtual machine on a Unisys ES7000/one with eight or fewer logical CPUs. Fix emulation of instructions that access I/O ports. Fix emulation of string instructions on 64-bit guest operating systems.

ESX350-200804403-BG (Critical): Prevent hostd from crashing due to incompatible entries in /etc/vmware/hostd/authorization.xml. Allow spaces in a password while creating and editing local ESX Server users through the VI Client. Set the executable bit for .vmx configuration files. Fix a vmware-vpxa crash caused by invalid UTF-8.

ESX350-200804404-BG (General): Allow Windows virtual machines to boot when DataDigest is enabled in software iSCSI.

ESX350-200804405-BG (General): Include a megaraid2 driver fix for UNISYS platforms.

ESX350-200804406-BG (General): Add support for the Intel PRO/1000 PF Quad Port Server Adapter.

ESX350-200804407-BG (Critical): Add support for the Broadcom HT-1100 SATA/IDE controller. Prevent path thrashing during an Invista all paths down condition.

ESXe350-200804401-I-BG (Critical): Fix typographic errors in the message strings of storage controller battery status, which is displayed in the VI Client. Include fixes for issues addressed by the following 3.5 patch bundles: ESX350-200804401-BG, ESX350-200804405-BG, ESX350-200804405-BG, ESX350-200804403-BG, and ESX350-200804407-BG.

Klangeheimlich hat VMWare den von Microsoft angestrebten Hotplug support für Virtuelle Hardware implementiert, der einzige Ort wo man etwas darüber findet ist die Feature List.

New virtual hardware version — This new hardware version lets you use the following new features if the guest operating system supports them: Add or remove some virtual devices while the virtual machine is powered on ("hot-plug"). Use LSI Logic SAS (serial attached SCSI) adapters in the virtual machine. 3-D graphics capabilities are enabled by default. Hot-add virtual CPUs and memory to a Windows Server 2008 guest.

Hoffen wir das dieses Feature bald den Sprung in den ESX schafft.

Wahrscheinlich wissen es die meisten schon aber da ich vor Kurzem wieder erlebt habe wie sich jemand fast die Finger bricht nur um von CD zu booten hier der Trick um genügend Zeit zu haben, um f12 zu drücken. Man muss nur eine neue Zeile in die vmx Datei der virtuellen Maschine hinzufügen, und zwar:
bios.bootDelay = “boot delay in milliseconds”
Gibt man hier z. B. 5000 ein, sieht man den Post Screen für 5 Sekunden.
Eigentlich genug Zeit, um mit dem dicken Finger auf f12 zu drücken.

Ich habe eben hier ein Video gefunden, was zeigt das der Hyper-V noch nicht 100% ausgereift ist.
Man sieht hier das gegenstück zu VMotion, von Microsoft auf Quickmigrate getauft.
Es läuft einiges an Netzwerktrafik und bei dem Quickmigrate geht die Netzwerkverbindung für einige Sekunden verloren.
Das ist allerdings bei den meisten Anwendungen, gerade aus dem Microsoftumfeld nicht vertretbar.
Daher ist der Hyper-V im Moment noch nicht das Gelbe vom Ei.
Allerdings muss man ja auch noch erwähnen das er noch im RC Stadium ist.
Vieleicht tut sich da ja noch was bis zur Final.

VMWare hat neue Versionen einiger seiner Produkte rausgebracht, die da wären:

VMWare Workstation 6.0.3 (Build 80004)

VMware Player 2.0.3 (build 80004)

VMware ACE 2.0.3 (build 80004)

VMware Server 1.0.5 (build 79847)

Für Player, Workstation und Server sind dies “nur” Security updates. ACE dagegen bietet auch einige neue Features, die ich aber leider noch nicht ausfindig machen konnt.

Virtualization.info berichtete das das Betaprogramm zum Powershell powerd VI- Toolkit noch im März kommt und hat den folgenden Link angehängt.

Ich habe mir den Link nun etwas genauer angeschaut und bin dadurch auf den folgenden Link gestoßen.

Sieht für mich sehr stark nach den PS Servlets aus.

Hab eben auf www.vmachine.de gesehen das man für den Script support der Powershell als Administrator folgenden Befehl absetzen muss.
Set-ExecutionPolicy unrestricted

Hier auch nochmal die Erklärung wieso.

Wie ich im Basicthinking Blog lesen konnte ist der IE8 in der Beta 1 freigegeben worden.
Ich werde mich gleich mal ans Testen heranwagen.
Mal schauen was Microsoft jetzt verbrochen wieder tolles gezaubert hat.
